Why do most BYU and Utah fans think in order to be a loyal fan to either team, they must hate the opposite team and hope for their demise?
Silly Utahan's!
This just simply isn't so. We all live here and anytime Utah or BYU have a win we should glory in that success, after all doesn't a win for either team reflect well on our state? Sure it does. Of course when they play each other we will hope for a win for our team, but why not root for the success of both teams when they are not playing each other. Two D-1 college teams having success is great for the state of Utah.
Both Jay and I come from huge football families, if you go back to the mid 70's and into the early 80's of BYU football you will see that there were 15 consecutive years when the name Linford appears on the roster's starting with Paul and ending with Jay, and of course other Linford's in between. My Father also played for BYU, however my Grandfather played for Utah!
Well as for us, we choose to support both teams during the season, and hope for the success of both teams. However when it comes down to the match-up between the two, of course our loyalty will always be with our beloved BYU and hope for them to come away with the victory.

Isn't there a scripture that talks about this? Something like "no man can serve two masters..."? ;) haha. Well, I say you must choose one or the other! GO BYU!
I have a couple of rules.
#1. Utah always has to lose to BYU.
#2. Utah should never have more wins than BYU in a season. Example: If BYU goes 6-5, I can only be happy if Utah went 5-6.
#3. Utah can win any game barring a violation of rules #1 and #2.
My best case scenario is they both enter the rivalry game undefeated, which means they are playing for the outright conference championship, and most likely a BCS berth. That is all.
