Today I am going to post about a pretty great guy. Jay Jackson Linford Jr., our oldest child. He was born so many years ago and yet our memories of that day are still so familiar and fresh. Jay and I both wanted our first born to be a boy. I know you should not care what sex your child is as long as it is healthy but never the less we really wanted a boy, that's not to say we wouldn't have loved a baby girl just as much however we were both elated to welcome a son.
We had so many hopes and dreams for our new little son and I remember how quickly Jay bonded with this little guy. It was truly fitting that he be his namesake. Through the years we have watched with much anticipation as our little man grew into a boy and on through adolescence and then into manhood and all I can say is what a ride!!!!
Jackson was the most adorable smart little child and what a sweetheart too. Everyone that knows him just loves him.
He always worked hard in school and excelled in everything he tried. Of course we all know what a great athlete he was, he gave new meaning to the words "never give up" and "courage". Someone once said the meaning of courage is defined this way "those that are afraid, but they go anyway" I would have to say that applies to Jackson. As a ninth grader he wrestled for Orem High School and qualified for state, in fact Jackson competed at State for 4 years, and was given the honor of athlete of the week by Coca Cola and KSL, He held the record for the most pins and was also team captain.
As a football player, he was definitely about his fathers business and even wore his number, the great number 61. Jackson's name and picture graced the newspaper on a weekly basis with tales of his havoc reeking on the football field. Jackson became a much decorated athlete at OHS earning 7 varsity letters. He went on to wrestle at Ricks College until he was injured and underwent a fourth shoulder surgery which ended his illustrious career.
Today Jackson has a college degree, a beautiful home, a wonderful job, a most beautiful wife and 2 very precious children, his son J.J. bears the much respected name as his father and grandfather. Jackson has become a wonderful man, father, husband and son. We love you Jackson, thanks for your wonderful contribution to our ODYSSEY

WE LOVE JACKSON TOO! He is such a joy to be around and spend time with. I have never met a MORE CARING guy than him. He REALLY CARES about everyone he meets and knows and its SO GENUINE. He is so passionate and I love that about him. Jackson and I can sit and talk for hours on the phone about nothing and it will be a wonderful conversation. I am so glad I have a relationship with him!!!
What a sweet tribute to Jackson. You are very lucky to have such a wonderful son. I remember watching him wrestle at Wasatch High School during a tournament...he was absolutely amazing! We still pull our our tape of him when he was the KSL Prep of the Week...we love to watch it. You have every right to be proud of him!
Good ol' Jackson! He has always looked out for me. He made sure I didn't get into any trouble up at Utah State :) I'm glad you did this post for him. He deserves it. He has always been a good example to me and I too am proud of the man he has become.
We think Jackson is a Stud too. He is so easy and fun to talk to. It seems like no matter how long its been since we've seen each other, we pick up right were we left off. Great post!!
We love you Jackson!!!
