The words of Christ, if we follow their course, [will]
carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into
a far land of promise
-Alma 37:45
It is easy to stumble, It is sometimes so hard to keep our voices low when small things provoke us. May we resolve in our hearts to live the gospel, to be faithful and true, to have the strength to look above small things that could lead to argument and trouble, to be forgiving of one another, "to look to God and live" I'm sure many of you recognize the words above as spoken by Gordon B. Hinckley. I try to read from his book "Stand A Little Taller" each day. His inspiring thoughts always seem be directed right at me. What never ceases to amaze me is how simple it really can be. I am reminded of the primary song "follow the prophet " The words of that song that seem particularly profound to me are "he knows the way" How simple is that to just follow the prophet, he will never lead as astray. It's as simple as living the gospel of Jesus Christ, not just on Sunday but everyday. I have been reading a book on the life of my Great Grandfather Smith, who was the 6th. prophet of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. Aside form his coming across the plains as a Fatherless Child, I always seemed to think that he had such a charmed life, but in reading more about him I am finding out that he had many trials that would discourage any man, but he lived his life in such a way that he was blessed through his trials and became an even greater man. He was criticized and ridiculed throughout his life, but he never became embittered or hateful, he treated all people with respect and kindness even those who tried to destroy him. I believe that he became such a great and revered man simply because he loved the Lord and truly lived the gospel.
